Tremor is a rhythm composer. Sixteen fixed pads, each an analogue-modelled voice you can set to a 505, 606, 707 or 808 — for the whole kit at once, or one pad at a time. A 707 hat over an 808 kick is one click.

That works because all four machines are built from the same five generators rather than four separate sample sets. A kick is a swept pitched body. A hat is a metal bank with a short decay. A clap is noise fired four times. Switching a pad’s machine keeps every knob doing exactly what it did — only the numbers underneath change.

Drop an audio file onto any pad and the same six dials keep working: tune becomes playback rate, decay becomes a fade, tone becomes a tilt. Nothing you learned stops being true.

Under the hood

Sixteen pads, six dials each

TUNE · DECAY · TONE · SNAP · LEVEL · PAN, on 1–10 amp-style dials. Five is the drum as designed.

🎼

Any time signature

Numerators 1–16, denominators 2/4/8/16, resolutions of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 steps per unit, up to four bars and 64 steps. 7/8 and 6/8 in triplets are settings, not workarounds.

🎲

A generator that writes parts

Twenty styles, each declaring how likely every drum role is to play on each beat and subdivision — so a style written for 4/4 still makes sense in 7/8. Lock the drums you like, reroll the rest.

Timing that cannot drift

Every step has an exact position in quarter-note beats, read from the host’s ppq each block. A tempo change or a locate can’t accumulate error, and swing runs from straight to a true triplet.

🎛

Written with your mouse, not a menu

Click a step to toggle it; drag right to sweep steps on, drag left to sweep them off — locked to the row you started on. Alt-click for accent, shift-click for flam.

🔌

MIDI both ways

In from a GM drum map or chromatically. Out on channel 10 by default, so Tremor can drive another instrument — or drag the pattern straight into your timeline.

↔️

Resizable 65–160%

Corner grip or stepped presets, aspect locked, and the size is remembered per instance. Type is sized to read at arm’s length, the way you read hardware.

The bank

8 pattern slots, sorted

Tremor ships patterns rather than a preset bank: eight slots, A to H, with copy and paste. The twenty generator styles are where new parts come from.

Tremor questions

Is Tremor a VST plugin?

Yes — Tremor installs as a VST3 on both Mac and Windows. On Mac you also get an Audio Unit (AU) and a Standalone app in the same download. There is no VST2 build and no AAX build, so Tremor does not load in Pro Tools.

Which DAWs does Tremor work in?

Anything that hosts VST3 or Audio Units — Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, Bitwig, GarageBand and Luna are all covered. Logic and GarageBand use the AU; the rest use the VST3. There's also a Standalone app on Mac if you just want to plug in and play without opening a DAW.

Does Tremor run on Apple Silicon and Windows?

Both. The Mac build is a Universal binary that runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1 through M4) and Intel, on macOS 10.15 or newer, and it's Developer-ID signed and notarised by Apple, so there's no Gatekeeper warning. The Windows build is 64-bit VST3 for Windows 10 or newer. One purchase covers both — the zip contains the Mac and Windows builds together.

How many presets does Tremor come with?

Tremor ships with 8 factory pattern slots, grouped into 20 categories. You can save your own alongside them, and they travel with the project the same way any other plugin state does.

Is Tremor a subscription?

No. $39 a one-off purchase with no subscription, no iLok and no dongle — you download it straight after checkout, updates are free, and the licence covers the computers you own. Whatever you make with it is entirely yours.

How do I install Tremor?

On Mac, unzip and drop the .component into ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and the .vst3 into ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3. On Windows, copy the .vst3 into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Rescan in your DAW and it appears under Award Audio Tools. A step-by-step INSTALL.txt is in the zip.
