Twelve modulation shapers, three bands each, and a canvas where you draw the movement by hand.

Kinetic is a modulation multi-effect. Pick a shaper, draw a shape on the canvas, and it runs one cycle per bar, beat or note division — locked to your host, retriggered by MIDI, or fired by transients in the audio itself.
Every shaper can run across three frequency bands with its own shape per band, so you can gate the low end without touching the cymbals, or scrub the highs while the bass stays put.
Two presets, each played dry and then swept in, so you can hear what it does rather than watch knobs move. The actual plugin window — not a mock-up, not a slideshow.
New modules default to off, so the chain only does what you switch on.
Up to 12 seconds of buffer per band, scrubbed by the shape — stutters, tape stops and rewinds, with short crossfades so the jumps don't click.
Granular doppler shifting at ±2, ±12 or ±24 semitones, with a deliberately vintage cyclic character.
The classic: gating, ducking, tremolo and sidechain-style pumping, straight off the drawn curve.
A flanger with its delay time modulated by the shape.
Bit-depth reduction driven by the shape, over static sample-rate reduction.
White, pink, crackle or hiss, band-limited through its own crossover so it lands only where you want it.
A per-band reverb whose send is gated by the shape — reverb on the off-beats only, if you like.
Per-band compression with auto make-up, as a tool rather than a shape.
A breakpoint editor with undo, 18 categorised wave presets to start from, and eight favourite slots for the shapes you keep coming back to.
An LR4 crossover with allpass correction (flat within 1 dB when summed), per-band shapes and envelopes, and solo that follows your selection.
Host sync, MIDI note-on, or audio transients with Drums/General/Complex detection — plus an external sidechain input.
The window scales to your screen and remembers where you left it.
The same take, before and after. Hit play, then flip between the raw signal and the plugin doing its thing — no reload, no gap.
Across 12 categories — the largest bank in the catalog.
Save your own alongside them — they land in your user folder and survive updates.
On Mac, unzip and drop the .component into
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and the .vst3 into
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3. On Windows, copy the .vst3 into
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Then rescan in your DAW and it appears
under Award Audio Tools. A step-by-step INSTALL.txt is in the zip.
Yes — Kinetic installs as a VST3 on both Mac and Windows. On Mac you also get an Audio Unit (AU) and a Standalone app in the same download. There is no VST2 build and no AAX build, so Kinetic does not load in Pro Tools.
Anything that hosts VST3 or Audio Units — Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, Bitwig, GarageBand and Luna are all covered. Logic and GarageBand use the AU; the rest use the VST3. There's also a Standalone app on Mac if you just want to plug in and play without opening a DAW.
Both. The Mac build is a Universal binary that runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1 through M4) and Intel, on macOS 10.15 or newer, and it's Developer-ID signed and notarised by Apple, so there's no Gatekeeper warning. The Windows build is 64-bit VST3 for Windows 10 or newer. One purchase covers both — the zip contains the Mac and Windows builds together.
Kinetic ships with 118 factory presets. You can save your own alongside them, and they travel with the project the same way any other plugin state does.
No. $39 a one-off purchase with no subscription, no iLok and no dongle — you download it straight after checkout, updates are free, and the licence covers the computers you own. Whatever you make with it is entirely yours.
